WASTE MANAGEMENT is the leading provider of comprehensive waste and environmental management services in North America.  Our subsidiaries provide collection, transfer, and recycling and resource recovery and disposal services.  We are also a leading developer, operator and owner of waste-to-energy and landfill gas-to-energy facilities in the U.S.  Our customer base consists of residential, commercial, industrial and municipal customer throughout North America.  As a result, we are currently looking to fill an administrative/clerical Operations Specialist position in our Sanford, NC office.
Job Summary
Provides Accounting (AP/AR),clerical and administrative support to departmental Managers, and assists in coordinating all aspects of daily operations, including recording and reporting data.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

. Performs A/P and A/R functions as well as administrative activities related to those functions.
· Assists in troubleshooting and resolving safety, service, and operational issues.
· Creates, distributes, and closes-out customer tickets on a daily basis.
· Maintains and distributes department related information on a daily basis.
· Communicates with other supervisors and managers about operations and/or dispatch issues.
· Completes and maintains a variety of reports as directed by the department manager.
· Uses software tools to manage a variety of tasks, such as procurement, time and attendance, safety incidents, and contract labor.
· Assists with data collection and reporting required for incentive pay programs.
· Assists with the processing of payments and other financial tasks as necessary.
· Assists in the implementation of operational projects as needed.
· Communicates with customers about service issues as needed.
· Communicates with employees about scheduling and work assignments as needed.
· Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities
This job has no supervisory duties.

Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.

Education and Experience

Required: High school diploma or G.E.D, and zero to four years previous experience.

Preferred: High school diploma or G.E.D, plus additional or specialized training, and zero to four years previous experience.

Strong computer proficiency in MS Excel
Proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint and MS Outlook programs
Ability to learn other in-house software systems for collection/manipulating of data.
Strong organizational skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Must be self-starter/able to work independently and awareness of required deadlines.
