Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas:
Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician-Joint Improvised Explosive Devise Defeat Organization (JIEDDO)
Serves as an EOD Technician in the Collection Management and Dissemination (CM&D) Cell, assigned to the Intelligence Division of JIEDDO. Advises the team leader, CM&D cell on all issues pertaining to weapons technical intelligence. Prepares written reports from technical information related to adversary weapons into formats readily used by intelligence consumers throughout the counter-IED community. Utilizes EOD experience to satisfy requests for information (RFI)s from JIEDDO, Coalition units, intelligence organizations, CIED rapid-acquisition organizations, and other agencies. Enables the free flow of information from forward-deployed units to units and organizations in CONUS, and vice versa.
Major Responsibilities:
- Compile technical weapons intelligence into data usable for formatted reporting;
- Answer RFIs related to weapon trends and adversary TTPs for attacking Coalition soldiers with IEDS;
- Coordinate the answers of validated collection requirements with the weapons technicians exploiting adversary devices;
- Responds to information requests from JIEDDO and other organizations, validates their information requirements.
Places of Performance:
- Include deploying to the JIEDDO Field Team Iraq in Baghdad, Iraq or the JIEDDO Field Team Afghanistan in Bagram, Afghanistan. When CONUS, place of duty will be within the Intelligence Division, JIEDDO in the Northern Virginia area.
- Within one week of the employee reporting to JIEDDO, the employee will undergo a six-week familiarization and pre-deployment cycle. The employee will familiarize themselves with the JIEDDO organization, mission, and funded programs at JIEDDO headquarters in Crystal City. The employee will also make visits to other interagency organizations within the local National Capital Region. The employee will undergo CONUS Replacement Center (CRC) training for five days at Fort Benning, Georgia, and will then deploy to theater. The employee will deploy to Baghdad, Iraq or Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan for a period of six months in support of the JIEDDO mission. At the end of the six month deployment, the employee will redeploy to JIEDDO Headquarters in Crystal City and work in the Intelligence Division for a period of five to six months before starting the pre-deployment cycle again.
- Experience with intelligence operations and activities, to include the intelligence cycle and report writing.
- Expertise in EOD tactics, techniques, and procedures; and EOD operations within the Iraq or Afghan theaters of operation.
- Skill in developing written materials or verbal presentations to convey information concerning highly technical and complex ideas to other technical experts, as well as to non-technical analysts.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, common e-mail and web browser systems, and other information technologies.
- Graduate of either a military or civilian/police Explosives Ordnance Disposal (EOD) or Bomb Technician (BT) training course.
- Must possess high level Clearance with SCI eligibility. SSBI must be current and individual must have had recent SCI access.
