The Collection Specialist maintains a map collection for a federal government map library. Specific responsibilities include assisting with the selection and delivery of geographic products and publications for end-users and customers; preparing any required office and Sponsor forms and maintaining paper files and electronic databases on acquisition orders.
The Collection Specialist maintains the filing of products when inventory is returned to the map library Collections, track returns and contact customers regarding overdue loan collection maps, and respond to status queries from customers and managers.
Additionally, the Collection Specialist ensures products received from geographic acquisition trips are received at the map library and are sorted, cataloged and disseminated. This entails opening and/or unpacking, record/completing any required office and Sponsor forms, and delivering each received product to the appropriate Mail & Courier System and/or customer buildings.
Required
MS Office; familiarity with databases and modfying data within those databases.
4+ Years with HS or 1+ Years with AA
Able to climb ladders and lift boxes between 20 and 40 pounds.
Desired
Experience working in a library or map/cartography environment desired but not required.
