SUMMARY OF THE JOB:
Develop detailed designs, drawings, and specifications balancing good design practices with demanding customer specifications under the guidance of a Lead Design Engineer.
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assist in the design of major projects under the guidance of a Lead Design Engineer
2. Coordinate with and consult other workers to design, layout, or detail components and systems and to resolve design or other issues.
3. Create design documentation such as detailed product component and assembly drawings and bill of materials to send to suppliers to be able to construct engineering mock-ups.
4. Work with technical assembly group to guide and assist in fabrication, assembly and installation of the designed systems.
5. Assist with creating conceptual models, vetting out the models with the team, creating and checking engineering drawings
6. Create 3D solid models and assemblies as well as detail and released drawings
Minimum Education
5-7 years experience as a Mechanical Designer and Associates degree in Mechanical Design. Previous experience as a Lead Designer preferred.
Basic Skill
1. Use of Pro/Engineer Wildfire as primary design CAD System and Intralink/Windchill.
2. Experience with top-down design methodologies using Pro/Engineer Wildfire. (skeletons, publish/copy geometry)
3. Experience with advanced assembly techniques and large assembly management using Pro/Engineer Wildfire.
4. PTC certification desired.
5. Experience in design of military or automotive systems.
6. Experience as a lead designer
7. Demonstrated ability to lead and work well with others
8. Strong leadership, communication (verbal and written), decision making and employee relations skills
9. Knowledge of ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards required.
10. Knowledge of ASME Y14.41 Digital Product Definition Data Practices desired.
11. Solid interpersonal skills with experience in customer/supplier relations
