As a key member of the U.S. Army's Future Combat Systems (FCS) Team, BAE Systems is responsible for five of the eight manned variants and for major elements of the common platform design. These critical weapons will be the first in a new line of combat vehicles and systems that will empower soldiers through unmatched firepower, situational awareness and survivability. 
Technology developments in composite materials, hybrid electric power systems, active protective suites, integrated vehicle survivability, reactive and passive armor kits, crew station design, training systems, unmanned ground vehicle capabilities and other features position the organization at the forefront for future ground combat system developments. 
Ground Systems is certified to ISO 9001 standards and the highest level (Level 5) on the Capability Maturity Model - Integrated (CMM-I) for systems and software engineering.
required: Relevant Associate degree + additional 6yrs experience or Bachelors + 2yrs experience

preferred: A minimum of 10 years of experience working in a CDM environment of which five or more years is spent in supporting a project in the DOD acquisition environment, or an equivalent mix of project and CDM Core staff experience.

Three years of related work experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment with a demonstrated understanding of functional interrelationship of contract administration, design engineering, manufacturing, quality and logistics are required.



Knowledge/Skills:

Expert CDM technical knowledge to provide the CDM expertise to the project and applicable business office.

 Extensive knowledge of identification, change control, status accounting and audit requirements and procedures.

Excellent knowledge of CDM computer applications (i.e. CDM systems, CCC, SUN, PC, UNIX) and be thoroughly skilled in their operation.

Ability to develop solutions to problems of unusual complexity.

Exceptional skills in the preparation and processing of all types of change control documentation.

 Highly skilled in maintaining the flow of change documents and in preparing status reports needed to support the project.

Broad knowledge and skilled in preparing technical input to RFPs, SOWs and BOE including associated costs.

Extensive knowledge of hardware/software CM requirements and procedures.

Broad knowledge in scheduling and budgeting resources.

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, contract documentation and Government/Industry standards and specifications.

Ability to assist in evaluating hardware and software CM issues and identify appropriate corrective actions for problems.

Ability to interpret contractual CDM requirements.

Excellent planning and organizational skills.



Communication Ability: A CDM Specialist must be an effective communicator and good skills including the following:

Good verbal and written skills for effective coordination and processing of engineering documents and coaching.

Good interpersonal skills to effectively interface with other functional groups to assure the flow of engineering documentation and data.   Data and narrative report preparation skills. Ability to give effective presentations.



Accountability:

Responsible for assuring the accuracy, adequacy and timeliness of CDM technical data.

? Proactively make decisions concerning data problems, data corrections and computer problems.



Discretion/Latitude:

Work is performed without appreciable direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignment.



Leadership:

Provide training to lower level Specialists. Delegate work to others within the CDM organization

Provide performance and career development input to CM Project Lead of lower level specialists
