As a key member of the U.S. Army's Future Combat Systems (FCS) Team, BAE Systems is responsible for five of the eight manned variants and for major elements of the common platform design. These critical weapons will be the first in a new line of combat vehicles and systems that will empower soldiers through unmatched firepower, situational awareness and survivability.

Technology developments in composite materials, hybrid electric power systems, active protective suites, integrated vehicle survivability, reactive and passive armor kits, crew station design, training systems, unmanned ground vehicle capabilities and other features position the organization at the forefront for future ground combat system developments.

U.S. Combat Systems is certified to ISO 9001 standards and Capability Maturity Model - Integrated (CMM-I) for systems and software engineering.
General Summary: 

Manage the formulation of U.S. Combat Systems strategy. Develops and implements the U.S. Combat Systems strategic planning process, Integrated Business Planning Process (IBPP), throughout the Line of Business. The purpose of strategic planning is the strengthening of the Line of Business competitive position and profitable business expansion through systematic planning and realization of: investments, as well as the horizontal, vertical and geographic expansion into new markets. The focus is long-term with multiple time horizons ranging from two to five and five to ten years. Develops non-conventional strategic ideas in the interest of future long term business opportunities. Conducts and maintains the relevance of global market segment studies to support the shaping of the Line of Business strategic direction. Maintains close and collaborative relationship with and assistance to the strategy planning staff of the Operating Group and LOB senior staff. Provides the leadership essential to develop, organize, manage and lead strategy planning concepts, guiding project teams consisting of internal members and external consultants.



Principal Roles and Responsibilities:

  1. Leads the development and production of the Line of Business Integrated Business Plan in coordination with other staff functional proponents.
  2. Lead development of M&A target, JV, and outside investment proposals.
  3. Lead LoB involvement in Legislative strategy formulation at L&A.
  4. Develops and produces the Line of Business Integrated Business Plan and ensures that the inputs to the Operating Group, BAE Systems Inc. and BAE Systems plc accurately reflect the Line of Business strategy, mission, goals and objectives.
  5. Manages strategic planning activity with programs in the development of their Integrated Business Plans and ensures that they are mutually supportive and executable long range plans.
  6. Develops and maintains milestones and metrics to measure the Line of Business progress against missions, goals and objectives.
  7. Develops, plans, proposes and initiates measures and initiatives to strengthen the Line of Business long-term competitive position.
  8. As directed, represents the Line of Business interests in various Operating Groups, BAE Systems Inc. and PLC. planning and strategy forums.
  9. Performs and documents market analysis and continual assessment of information relating to the Line of Business Integrated Business Plan.
  10. Establishes and manages the Strategic Planning portion of the Line of Business Global Strategy and Planning budget.
  11. Provides leadership to and develops direct reports.


Basic Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related field.
  2. 10 years experience.
