U.S. Combat Systems Vice President - Finance
General Summary:
Directs the accounting and finance functions for the U.S. Combat Systems: financial analysis, budgeting, financial reporting, cost accounting, payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable, in support of business unit level objectives and long range goals. Provides technical expertise and leadership to the business unit, department, or program personnel in problems related to accounting or finance. Directs the research, development, implementation, and maintenance of accounting, financial, or cost estimating processes, systems, and practices.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Acts as the point of contact with external customers, subcontractors, teammates, outside auditors and government representatives (e.g., DCAA) to solve/prevent accounting and financial problems.
2. Serves as the LOB's focal point for all financial planning, analysis, and reporting (e.g., income statements, balance sheets, financial results).
3. Monitors and reviews financial results and variances with program and senior management.
4. Directs the development and presentation of financial reviews or program status report to internal and external customers and company management.
5. Directs the planning, developing and administration of departmental policies, procedures, work instructions, budgets, and controls.
6. Performs duties normally associated with supervision, including but not limited to, hiring, training, evaluating, counseling and disciplining of employees.
Basic Qualifications:
1. A professional level of knowledge in a specialized field normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a related field or equivalent experience.
2. A minimum of 10 years of related work experience to obtain a comprehensive knowledge of accounting, financial, and cost estimating theory, practices and procedures. Knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Cost Accounting Standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Certified Management Accounting (CMA), Certified Public Accounting (CPA) or a Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA).
2. Previous defense experience and knowledge of the Navy customer.
3. A very high level of analytical ability to analyze and interpret financial data, solve complex accounting problems, and manage the development and use of analytical tools and methodologies for cost/profitability analysis.
4. A very high level of communication skills to consult with Line of Business and program management on negotiation/proposal strategies and to present financial reviews and status reports to internal and external customers.
