Understands complex UNIX/Windows environment. Performs general administration to include rebooting SUN workstation, account management, changing owner and groups on files and folders, setting printers, applying CITRIX clients, executing init commands, updating NIS tables, using VI basic commands, assisting users with landing zones, uses Open Solaris Management Console, and applying other performance features. Conducts advanced administration to include performing user, group, and web-authenticated administration; syslog error reporting; storage array reporting; checking SAN switches; installing, configuring, and maintaining serverside applications; maintaining and manipulating allocated storage space; jumpstarting clients and servers to Solaris 10; maintaining live datafeeds; managing SUN clusters; and configuring setup of NIS/LDAP. Skill sets include Solaris 8/10 experience; HP UNIX operating systems; OPSWare; VMWare, software; security patching; file systems; troubleshooting skills; and system failure analysis. Ensures consistency and performs business continuity planning; hardware/software configuration; and management liaison with client offices, operations personnel, and field service personnel; interacts directly with customers to negotiate solutions and implementation specifics. Performs technical support and general troubleshooting. Supports servers in a 24x7 data center. Manages and leads hardware and software migration and upgrade efforts of varying size and complexity. Requires in-depth knowledge of Solaris, SAN, and virtual environments. Strong experience with system management tools, logical file systems, and client/server environments. Monitors and maintains storage services associated with IBM Server Virtualization Cluster (IBM SVC) suite. Maintains complex connections between SAN switches, storage devices and critical servers. Maintains DoDIIS Trusted Workstation (DTW) servers and clients.
