BAE Systems leads the Enterprise Services support at a DoD Government Agency. This effort includes Systems Integration/Engineering support whose goal is to act as the technical arm of the agency and research/advise on a wide range of technical topics.  This support is intended to provide expertise to the government to ensure they are getting the best value for their money when investing in products or vendors to build solutions.  

 

As part of the Systems Integration Team the Architect will work in a small team environment and will need to provide a wide range of skills to help support the government and help them achieve their mission.  Typical responsibilities will include product evaluations, review of architecture/design documentation, level of effort estimations, and active consistent participation in the oversight of a new SOA based architecture to support new applications/systems. Ideal candidates will have a wide range of general systems engineering skills in order to research, analyze, and recommend approaches to the client.  The candidate will need to be able to recommend industry standards and best practices for the tasks encountered.

 

This role requires significant customer and team interface. The candidate must have excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills and be comfortable with multi-tasking as needed to accommodate ad-hoc type requests by the customer.  The candidate must also be able to anticipate the needs of the customer in order to submit deliverables that demonstrate expertise in engineering areas and reflect the engineering strength of BAE Systems.

 

Examples of Duties and Responsibilities

 

* Provide software engineering expertise in a variety of areas.

* Work within the team to research, analyze, and document recommended solutions.

* Clearly be able to articulate to the client the pros and cons of solutions that were evaluated.        

   and why certain recommendations were being made.

*  Work with other team members to attack larger initiatives and deliver a clear, comprehensive  

   recommendation.

*  Evaluate products and solutions either via research of literature, and/or the installation and 

   use of a product against a set of evaluation criteria.
 
*  8+  years cumulative combined experience to include systems engineering with software 

    systems development; systems architecture developemnt. 

*  Proficient in researching, analyzing, and documenting products and solutions

*  Proficient in articulating recommendations to the client in a clear and concise manner

*  Familiarity with full systems development lifecycle concepts and various methodologies

*  Familiarity of J2EE design and implementations. (Design patterns, Hibernate, Spring, Struts)

*  Familiarity of web products: webservers and application servers 

*  General knowledge of relational database technologies

*  Hands on experience in the development of a SOA system/applications.

*  Skills with level of effort (LOE) labor cost estimation timelines and planning
