BAE Systems, Technology Solutions, is looking for a Senior HW Engineer to perform electrical, mechanical or components and process engineering functions as part of the ISR group located in Columbia, MD. Specifically, the Hardware Engineer will develop and manage component level requirements allocated to hardware, develop hardware design and implementation concepts, analyze and select Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) hardware components, develop design documentation, develop and document sub-system and component level software and firmware, design, develop and document Special Test Equipment (STE), conduct sub-system and component level integration and test, support system level integration and test, and conduct site installation. As a HW Engineer, you will perform one or more of the following: � Develop, allocate, and manage moderately complex sub-system and component level hardware requirements. � Analyze moderately complex system level design concepts with hardware content. � Support research and performs trade studies to support selection of moderately complex COTS hardware. � Research and develop moderately complex hardware designs using company standard Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) tools. � Prepare and maintain documentation (technical documents, engineering drawings, specifications and standards) for moderately complex hardware designs and architectures in accordance with established hardware development processes and procedures. � Perform moderately complex hardware integration activities and supports system level integration and test. � Verify and validate moderately complex hardware designs to ensure conformance with functional specifications and customer requirements; e.g. CAE/CAD simulation, prototyping, and environmental testing. � Perform or support various specialty-engineering tasks such as; Reliability, Maintainability and Availability (RMA) analysis, Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) analyses or programs, Human Factors Engineering tasks, project Safety Engineering tasks, and training development. � Support site operations and sustainment activities at customer locations � Perform or support various systems engineering tasks � Review, define, and document hardware items of any description, including devices, materials, and COTS hardware. Researches, identifies, and recommends sources. Manages supplier development of hardware items. � May identify, review, and evaluate diminishing sources and obsolescence issues. Researches and identifies resolutions.
1. Bachelor's degree in an Engineering or Scientific field or equivalent experience and at least two (2) years of relevant work experience. 2. Ability to work with minimal supervision and drive the mechanical design from concept to fruition. 3. Experience generating and maintaining project schedules and have effective communication, report writing, and presentation skills. 4. General background in electro-optical systems, gimbals and mechanisms, as well as their integration into airborne pods and platforms. 5. Proven success interacting with multiple engineering disciplines as well as customer and subcontractor representatives. 1. BSEE degree and at least 5 years or an MSEE with 3 years of applicable EE design experience.
