Job Purpose:
This position is responsible for all aspects of the procurement process for specified goods and services, using their purchasing experience, expertise, and negotiation skills in a consultative capacity to ensure that NCCI receives the best pricing and terms/conditions on procurement contracts. Identifies, maintains, and promotes vendor relationships on an ongoing basis to ensure a diverse and effective vendor base for NCCI’s procurement needs. This position handles the more complex and/or higher valued purchases such as those for equipment and services related to Facilities and IT.


Major Duties:
Manages the procurement process for specified goods and services required by the business units that it supports. Works closely with Legal Department in negotiating vendor contracts and related vendor terms and conditions. Issues purchase orders and oversees delivery of goods or services, ensuring quality of product or service delivered. Works with business partner in overseeing any training, testing, or other special needs required from procurement.
Serves in a consultative capacity for supported business units regarding their need for information on procurement, including the identification of prospective vendors and managing the Request for Proposal process when appropriate. Provides information to internal customers on the latest in products and services advances as it relates to their purchasing needs. Consults to other purchasing staff related to the procurement needs of the organization.
Manages and promotes vendor relationships continually ensuring the organization has a diverse and effective vendor-base for procurement needs.

Required Education, Experience & Skills:
High School Diploma or GED
7 years of procurement experience in a corporate purchasing environment, procuring IT and/or Facilities equipment commodities, and services. Experience in managing and negotiating medium to large dollar procurements from request through proposal, vendor selection, contract negotiation, delivery/installment, customer follow-up, maintenance, and management reporting
Extensive experience serving in a consultative role across divisions within an organization, providing extensive knowledge to assist in the procurement needs of the organization.
Specific knowledge of certain products and services including an extensive understanding of all specification information and terminology is required in order to consult effectively with the internal customer as well as manage the procurement process with the outside vendors.
Extensive negotiating skills are required in order to achieve the best possible price and terms for the customer and the organization as well as in maintaining the vendor relationships.
Knowledge of legal and financial terms common in commercial transactions is required in order to effectively work with the business areas who partner with Purchasing throughout the procurement process.

Preferred Education, Experience & Skills:
Bachelor’s degree. Certified Purchasing Professional (CPP).
