University Hospitals Medical Practices (formally UPCP/UHMSO) was established in 1994. UH Medical Practices is the largest primary and specialty care physician group in northeastern Ohio, with a physician complement of over 340 physicians, covering an eight county area from Conneaut to Sandusky to Medina. The medical practice group consists of allergy, cardiology, endocrinology, family medicine, gastroenterology, general surgery, geriatrics, pediatrics, internal medicine, neurology, obstetrics/gynecology, ophthalmology, orthopaedics, otolaryngology, pediatric ophthalmology, pediatrics, physical medicine/pain management, podiatry, pulmonary medicine, rheumatology and urgent care.

Position Details:
Conducts Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) of hospitalized and/or out patients.Participates in performance improvement and outcome research activities. Pursues and participates in activities that market and promote the profession of dietetics, the department and the hospital. Precepts Dietetic Interns and Students.Initiates and maintains positive relationships with patients/customers. Initiates and maintains positive relationships with co-workers. Takes responsibility for self-development and supports a learning environment. Displays commitment to the mission of the hospital and its values.

Position Requirements:

Through ADA program, has knowledge from coursework on food & nutrition sciences, food service principles, biochemistry, physiology, microbiology, anatomy, chemistry, business, economics, computer science; social sciences. This position possesses unique skills to provide Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) to patients & clients. The incumbent has the ability to evaluate & recommend nutritional needs based on the patient/client's age, physical needs & complex clinical conditions. Demonstrates a professional demeanor when responding to patients/customer.

Education Requirements:

Bachelor of Science degree in Food and Nutrition.  Masters Degree in nutrition, education or related field strongly recommended.

License Requirements:

Registered Dietitian (RD) through the American Dietetic Assoc. and licensed to practice in the State of Ohio. Registered through the American Dietetic Association and licensed to practice in the State of Ohio

Special Certification:
CDE (Certified Diabetes Educator) is required.  Completes continuing professional educational requirements to maintain registration.

Preferred Qualifications:
Must have at least 2 years of recent experience.
