POSITION PURPOSE The Web Designer is a creative problem solver, able to construct detailed graphic design deliverables with proficient speed and exceptional quality working within a content management system. Maintains and provides ongoing design of the website, online promotions, seasonal events and redesign projects. Responsible for building /modifying complex, cross-browser CSS layouts. Will be using HTML, CSS, and some JavaScript along with Photoshop.
MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
30% Designs solutions that meet or exceed strategic objectives for Home Depot Measurement Services, including creating interactive design concepts; designs mood boards, storyboards, interactive page layouts, site grids and interface demos, photo retouching and enhancements
40% Build/modify cross-browser CSS layouts based on creative teams vision and models and produce graphical components for those sites
10% Provides quality assurance on creative deliverables
10% Partner with HomeDepot.com web creative team to maintain consistent standards across platforms
10% Contribute to the development of the online creative culture and quality standards

The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job

Physical Job Requirements
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Preferred Qualification
Strong graphic design portfolio with 2+ years design and interactive work experience
Prior experience with HTML5, Flash, Ajax, Flex, and other emerging platforms
Comprehensive understanding of interactivity and the Web and the fundamentals of information architecture

Ability to articulate and present creative ideas to a variety of audiences
Ability to multi-task and work effectively under pressure with careful attention to detail
Demonstrated passion for design and eagerness to collaborate with others
HTML, CSS, and JavaScript skills
An understanding of browser display variances on different platforms
Possess firm understanding on W3C standards as well as browser-specific bugs and variations, in IE, Mozilla and Safari
CSS experience, with the ability to build/modify complex, cross-browser CSS layouts
An understanding of current (table-less) CSS layout techniques
A solid working knowledge of the latest versions of applicable programs
