Position Summary

Provides leadership and administrative oversight  for the Legacy area of the Pharmacy.  Responsible for the daily activities of this department and oversee the short and long term strategies to support the financial and business goals.  Ensure policies and practices, data integration, and quality reporting of the pharmacy department are coordinated with the Dallas campus.  Maintain and cultivate relationships with key staff members, patients, and patient families.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for oversight and daily operations and management of department and associated personnel.  Ensures daily staffing levels meet operational needs and makes efficient use of resources.  Conducts daily rounds to meet clinical department leadership, staff, patients and patient families to address any concerns before major issues arise.
  • Establish and maintain key processes; analyze, recommend and implement changes that improve efficiencies, quality and service.  Collect and monitor productivity data.  Ensure that procedures comply with established policies.  Establishes positive relationships with Dallas counterparts and stay abreast of operational and regulatory changes. Coordinate resources and serve as subject matter expert in Pharmacy department;  provide ongoing updates, problem analysis, and solution recommendations.
  • Administer or oversee all personnel actions including staffing levels, recruiting, performance reviews and time keeping.  Responsible for staff development, succession planning and mentoring new members of the organization.
  • Develop and monitor annual budgets including operating, capital and special needs.  Review and monitor variances to maintain fiscal responsibility for the departments.  Establish business case for additional funding levels based on needs assessments and value of any returns.  Present to key management staff for approval.
  • Oversee the purchase of drugs and supplies and ensure that appropriate records and documentation are maintained according to established policies/ procedures; implement new programs and ensure that procedures are followed; respond to and resolve customer service issues brought forth by other departments or units related to Pharmacy Services



  • Four-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required
  • Graduate or professional work or advanced degree; or equivalent experience preferred

Licenses & Certifications

  • Current Texas licensure and registration as a Pharmacist required
  • Healthcare Provider CPR/ BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification within 90 days of hire required


  • Minimum 3-5 years of related experience required
  • Minimum 5-7 years of related experience preferred

Physical Demands

  • Light - Exerting up to 20 lbs. occasionally, 10 lbs. frequently, or negligible amounts constantly OR requires walking or standing to a significant degree.
