Patient Access Representative- Legacy location

The hours are 12 PM-12 AM with rotating week-ends, location is Legacy (Plano campus)

Duties may vary based on assigned department but this position performs the following tasks:

  • Schedules and/or (pre)registers patient visits or admissions with accurate patient demographic and financial information while providing timely and courteous customer service
  • Ensures maximum reimbursement on all services with timely and accurate verification of coverage, completion of all third party payer requirements (referrals and authorizations), requesting and processing upfront payments, making appropriate referrals to financial counseling, and assisting guarantors with questions related to billing
  • Assists families with the complexities of the healthcare reimbursement process
  • Answers phone calls and greets visitors, patients and families, provide directions and answer questions


Minimal Education Required for the Position:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree or two years of college work preferred 

Certification and/or License(s) Required for the Position: 

Minimal Years of Training, and/or Experience Required for the Position:

  • Data processing/keyboarding skills required (30 wpm with accuracy)
  • Customer service experience, preferably in healthcare or a service industry

  • The ability to communicate with others in clear, understandable and professional manner on the phone and in person.
  • The ability to interact with peers, executive and medical staff, patient families, vendors and other customers in a manner that represents Children’s positively.

  • The ability to use and understand complex computer and telecommunication systems
  • The ability to independently identify and address issue and make decisions when appropriate
